Prince of Tennis collaborates with Chiba Police Force to help boost

2014 marks the 15th anniversary of Takeshi Konomi's The Prince of Tennis. While the manga may have ended back in 2008, Ryoma Echizen still remains one of the most popular shonen protagonists in recent times. And while his tennis career may still be his passion, it seems as though Ryoma will be putting in a bit of his time in another field – that of police work.

In order to honor the The Prince of Tennis's big 15th year, as well as to crack down on bank payment fraud, the West Chiba Polica Department is teaming up with Takeshi Konomi to bring you this special Ryoma Echizen police force poster, putting a twist on the character’s popular catch phrase: “Your sense of crime prevention still has a long way to go!”

Takeshi Konomi even posted about the poster on his personal Twitter account, explaining that the poster was designed as part of the official “Bank Payment Fraud Prevention Campaign.” Depicting Ryoma in police force regalia, these posters will be found across the western part of the Chiba prefecture.

The Prince of Tennis isn’t the only anime series to team up with law enforcement officials lately. Back in May, Patlabor the Mobile Police ran a campaign with the National Police Agency of Japan to promote bicycling safety. The Prince of Tennis is currently working on production of a new original OVA, The Prince of Tennis II, which picks up after the events of the original series.
